Create a coloring page using only pencil on white paper. (Teacher will choose the best ones to make copies of, which will become part of the art class coloring page collection, so they should not color them in today.) You may make a drawing based on any theme or topic that is appropriate for school (no weapons, etc) and should have a lot of detail in terms of lines (suggest that they look at the texture chart on the back bulletin board) but should not have shading… remind them that in order to have their design chosen to be reprinted for the art class coloring page collection, they need to take their time and do their best. When they have completed their design (which should fill up the whole 8 ½ x 11” paper) they need to put their name in the bottom right corner. If anyone finishes early, they may make a second coloring page. Please encourage them to use their imaginations and use this opportunity to “WOW” their teacher with things that interest them.
Possible themes that seemed popular:
- Animals in their habitats
- Outer space/ aliens
- Microscopic view of something
- Bird’s eye/ ant’s eye view of the world
- Tech decks/ skatepark
- Seasons/ holidays
- Obstacle course (think of the Mouse Trap game)
Below are some of the coloring pages my students created.
